contact improvisation Concert Series Performance

This concert series aims to celebrate the art of Contact Dance creation in an enlivening community setting.


Periodically through the year, Contact Dance-inspired commissions  will have their premiere in an informal community setting. After each performance there will be an audience-creator chat.

WHAT IS IS CONTACT IMPROV CONCERT SERIES:
This concert series aims to celebrate the art of Contact Improvisation creation in an enlivening community setting. Commissions are given to contact Improvisation community members to create new works. After each performance, there will be an audience-creator chat. The Contact Improvisation Concert Series has specialized project support from: The Canadian Heritage Foundation. It is also funded by our other operation funders, the Toronto Arts Council and Ontario Arts Council.

 
DATE: Tuesday March 18, 2025   
TIME: 8:45 pm to 9:45 pm (You will be coming in as the jam ends and then we shall get set up)   
LOCATION:    310 Danforth Ave, Toronto,   Rafos Hall is close to Chester Subway (wheelchair accessible)   
COST: $10 (Free for Toronto Tuesday Dance Jam members)

2024 - Mythic Shifts with Suzanne Liska and ensemble (Samantha Johnson, Gibum Dante Lim, Mika Lior, Suzanne Liska, Zita Nyarady, Kathleen Rea, Tess Takahashi, Mateo G. Torres 


2023 - "Poetry and Dance Evening" with award-winning poet Gili Haimovich and dancers , Adrian Chuquipiondo, Jeff Moskal, Olivia Proudfoot and Kathleen Rea


2023 - "Finding Helix" Choreographer Kathleen Rea, dancers and co-creator Jayeden Walker and Luke Anderson and original music and musician Cheryl Ockrant.


2023 - "Untitled" Dancers and co-creators Nickeshia Garrick and Irma Villafuerte with music and co-creation by Uche Ama


2022 - "Contact Dense" Dancer and Creator Olivia Proudfoot, dancer Tim Spronk and sound score and guest appearance by  Ference Szabo.


2022- "Querying Gender" by dancers Paul Lewis, Jayeden Walker, and Mateo Galindo Torres  


2022- "Contact Zoomprov" by dancers Jen Roy, and Luke Anderson with sound artist Steff Mendolia, and "7:37" new work by choreographer Valentina Tambini


2021 - "Here We Are" by  Megan English and Jessica Houghton and musician Doug Tielli
