ANNOUNCEMENT: REAson d'etre dance's Tuesday Contact Dance Jam is reopening as a membership-based jam on May 14 2024 at the wheelchair-accessible Rafos Hall, Neighbourhood Unitarian Universalist Congregation (Eastend of Toronto close to Chester Subway) with this new membership model.
The Tuesday Dance Jam is a wheelchair-accessible, membership-based, weekly contact improvisation dance jam plus pre-jam class. Also included is a monthly special event that occurs after the jam on the last Tuesday of every month from September to June.
We aim to practice contact improvisation while fostering a consent-based culture. We also seek to be generative of community connections and creativity. It is a subsidised jam due to government operation funding and the monthly and yearly membership prices reflect this.
All monthly and yearly members are encouraged to commit to one volunteer hour a month. This might mean coming in early to help clean the dance floor, staying to help set up for our monthly special events, helping with promotion, volunteering on a REAson d'etre dance committee, or volunteering any skill set you have that may be useful. Volunteerism will be self-determined (i.e. we do not keep track of it but do encourage it).
